The East Sandringham Junior Football Club isone of the most established sporting clubs in Bayside, originallyformed in 1948.The Club joined the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League (nowSMJFL) in 1991, where it remains. Since that time, it has developeda reputation as one of the best administered and most professionaljunior clubs in the competition. In 2011, the club was responsiblefor the creation of the first AFL-sanctioned junior girls footballcompetition in Victoria, fielding four of the 12 teams thatcompeted in the Lightning Premiership, and winning the ultimateprize. In the same year, it fielded its first netball team, winningan Under 17 premiership.With 25 teams, four of them junior girls sides, and a number ofnetball teams, it is almost unrecognisable from the early days.Certainly, the Club and its ground have seen many changes since1948 when facilities at Chisholm Reserve were non-existent Therewas no water, no toilets and no change rooms, and the oval did noteven have a fence around it. The Northern Saints Football Club is anAustralian Rules football club located 15 km north of Melbourne inthe suburb of Fawkner.Northern Saints was formed in October 2007 as a result of amerger between North Coburg Saints Football Club which played inthe EDFL and Fawkner Park who played in the Northern FootballLeague and which itself previously was a merger between FawknerAmateurs and Moomba Park.The club as a single entity was affiliated with the EssendonDistrict Football League and has continued affiliation with thisLeague from 2008 as a merged entity.The Fawkner Amateurs FC was very successful in the 70's and 80'sjumping from F Grade to B Grade with Premiership's almost everysecond year at one stage. The Fawkner Colors of light and navy bluewas changed to Navy with a white FPFC yoke when the Club mergedwith Moomba Park in the mid 90's.Moomba Park FC played in the Riddell District FootballLeague.The colors of St Olivers FC were green with a red yoke, thesewere the traditional colors associated with the Catholic PrimarySchool. For many years, the club fielded only junior teams, until1978 when seniors were established.In the early 90s, the club changed its name to North Coburg SaintsFootball Club to better reflect the area it represented.In 1998 the colours were also changed to purple, red, green andwhite (of AFL club Fremantle Dockers). The Old Paradians Association seeks to fosterlinks with all past students, whose formative years were shaped bythe Christian Brothers of Parade College.Formally established in 1914, the Association’s inaugural 13-mancommittee included the President James Kennedy (who completed hisMatriculation class at Parade in 1890), Reverend Brother JM Dwyerand the Rush brothers Robert and William, all of whom maintained acontinuing interest in the Association for the rest of theirlives.Today, the Association continues to foster alumni interest andgoodwill by encouraging intellectual and emotional ties betweenAssociation members and their College – as a means of upholding thetraditions in keeping with Parade’s famous tenet.The Association also actively pursues its many and variedsporting and cultural interests, and seeks to work with theCollege’s Careers & Guidance Counsellor in assisting studentsand former students of the College with their professions. Claremont Junior Football Club is 50 years oldin season 2010, having been established in 1960.In the years prior to the club’s formation, local boys played inthe Temperance League under the banner of the “ClaremontCobblers”.Long time Claremont resident and past Claremont CouncillorTrevor Nicholas founded the club in 1960.A very fortunate aspect of the Club’s founding was its location– College Park in Claremont – a great venue for junior footy withtwo full size ovals, grassy banks providing a natural grandstand,and of course its use for cricket in summer providing players withthe enjoyment of sliding in those fantastic mud patches from thewaterlogged cricket pitch areas in winter!! (and providing theirparents with the joy of washing the mud out of their jumpers thenext day!). Lights were added for night training in the 1980s.A walk today through our club rooms (located in the basement ofthe Leckie Pavillion at College Park) shows a rich history andpassion for Aussie Rules footy with over 50 framed photos of pastClaremont Junior Football Club teams mounted on the walls. Chirnside Park Football Club was formed in1978 by Tommy Hardstaff, who saw the need for the young in agrowing community.The club was originally part of the Chirnside Park Country Cluband played in Melbourne guernseys.This First year saw two teams, Under 9 and Under 11's, playingin the Eastern Districts Football League and using Lilydale WestPrimary School as its home ground.In 1979, the football club continued to grow and broke away fromthe Country Club, forming its own committe with Tommy Hardstaff asPresident. The club then moved to Lilydale High School, which had alarger ground size. In that same year, Chirnside Park won the Under9 Lightening Premiership and through a club name competition amongthe boys, became the "Panthers".The following years saw the club continue to grow - firstly withthe beginning of the Midget competition in 1980 (which the clubhave won twice), also changing our club colours to orange andblack. In 1981 we officially entered into competition football withan Under 14 side.Season 2000 saw a new era for the club. The senior club aligneditself with the junior competition, joining the EFL in 4thDivision. The Junior club fields teams in Under 10, 11, 12, 13 and16's. The whole club is fitted out with new jumpers, designed by amarketing committee. The club's new colours include black, gold andwhite. The club also recieves funding to complete a much neededextention to the clubs carpark. Established in March 2008, EUFC is a young andvibrant club. Our first year as a club was definitely a success,and our membership instantly grew from 0 to well over 170 members.With the further expansion of the club in 2009, we doubled ournumbers. The club played its first two seasons in theVJCA, enjoying success, and after joining the Victorian SubDistrict Cricket Association (VSDCA) in 1973, we have played inthis competition for 39 years. The VSDCA consists of 28 clubs,playing cricket across the Melbourne metropolitan area.During this time, the club has won 21 premierships includingfour in the first grade.Australian Test player and former national selector Merv Hughesstarted his cricket career at Werribee CC, and the club has helpedproduced many quality players including current South AustraliaRedbacks player Daniel Worrall and Victorian Under 19representatives Travis and Shaun Dean. East Gosford Soccer Club was established in1963 and was first known as the Dinosaurs.The clubhouse was previously located at the site of the recentlyremoved Karribee ferry on the Gosford waterfront. We were given thebuilding in 1972 on the condition it be taken away within 2 days.This was accomplished and the old house was erected in the positionit occupies today. It was officially opened by Dr Feather who wasinstrumental in the formation of the club.We currently have approximately 800 registered players. This ismore than double the 286 players we had in 1994. We have enjoyedfor some years now, the highest number of girls and women's teamsin our association which has 23 member clubs totalling close to14,000 players in 2011. We have players from under 5s through toover 35s (and a few a lot older than that!) The Footscray Hockey Club (FHC) was formed inlate 1934. FHC fielded one men’s team for its inaugural session(1935), and added a ladies and a junior team in 1936.As per all sporting clubs, FHC struggled through the war yearsalmost disbanding in 1942 when membership dropped to 8.Other than for a four year period playing at the bottom of theYarraville Gardens (1936 – 1939), the Club’s early decades werebased at the eastern end of Footscray Park, adjacent to Lynch’sBridge. Subsequent moves were to Johnson Reserve in West Footscrayin 1965, and then to McIvor Reserve, Yarraville in 1994.With its provisions for men, women, boys and girls, the sport ofhockey has always encouraged full family involvement, and the FHChas always been a leader in this regard. The Clubs home ground is the East Burwood Reserve, whichis located between Blackburn & Springvale Roads on BurwoodHighway, East Burwood. In those days EastBurwood was an extremely rural area of mainly fruit and flowergrowers who also produced an abundance of footballers. As all clubsdo, our club has seen so many families names like Fankhauser,Tainton, Mullens, help build the family tradition on which the clubis still founded today. Indeed the senior Best & Fairestrecipient is now awarded the Colin Tainton Medal. You will find aroad named after this family across the road from the ground.The family values and succession on which EBFC was founded havehelped make our club one of the most respected metropolitan clubsin Australia. East Burwood has been a highly successful clubwinning premierships in almost every decade since its inception.The first premiership came in 1929 and was followed by triumphs in1930 in the Scoresby District Football Association, 1932 and 1933in the Federal League. The South Yarra Soccer Club is the oldestremaining football (soccer) club in Victoria.The was started in 1928 by the late Sandy Duff after he waspeople kicking a football in Fawkner Park as they walked home froma fishing trip.To this day the club still wears the famous red and whitestriped uniform it adopted back when the club was first formed.The club currently boasts 6 senior mens teams, 2 womens teamsand 11 junior teams in various levels of competition.As the club continues to grow and the need to communicate andinteract with their players, supporters, members and sponsorsincreased, the committee thought the easiest way to achieve thiswould be by adopting some form of new techonology.After a lengthy process and assessing all of their options theSouth Yarra Soccer Club is pleased to announce the release of theirvery first ever native mobile phone app for the iPhone!We have no doubt that if Sandy Duff was alive today, he wouldhave been all for this venture. In 1997 a merger betweenArmadale Park and Armadale City clubs formed Armadale SoccerClub.The squad is currently managed by former Inglewood United andManchester United academy coach Lee Bamber and assistant KevinBrophy.
